Piyush Gupta MD, FAMS, FIAP, FNNF is a renowned academician, teacher, researcher, author, and editor with 30 years of experience in the field of Child Health and Care, Medical Education, Research, and Publishing. He is presently working as a Professor of Pediatrics at the University College of Medical Sciences, in New Delhi. Dr. Piyush Gupta has received national and international recognition in the fields of Child survival, Nutrition, Medical Education, and Biomedical Editing. He has served as the Editor-in-chief of ‘Indian Pediatrics,’ (International indexed peer-reviewed official journal of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Impact factor 1.048) for 6 years (2008-2013). He is a member of the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) and has been a member of the International Editorial Board of The Journal of Pediatrics, USA (2016-2018). He has edited/authored 30 textbooks and published 200 papers in indexed journals. He is the Chief Academic Editor of IAP Textbook of Pediatrics, since the last 10 years over 3 editions. He has also edited the IAP Color Atlas of Pediatrics and IAP Principles of Pediatric Emergencies. His 3-volume PG Textbook of Pediatrics is a well-accepted landmark Textbook of Pediatrics in India for postgraduates. He has conducted clinical trials in the field of Nutrition, Diarrhea, and Newborn health. His current research on vitamin D in childhood illnesses is receiving rave international reviews. He has been actively involved in the training health professionals and the community for rational management of diarrhea, severe acute malnutrition, and essential newborn health through IAP and Unicef. He has anchored more than 200 programs on All India Radio for increasing health awareness of common disorders in the community. He has delivered 10 orations, including the prestigious KL Wig Oration in the field of Medical Education in India; IAP Nutrition Chapter’s Harbhagwan Kumar Oration, and Orations by IAP Bihar, IAP Rajasthan, IAP Kerala, and IAP Twin city. In 2014, he was awarded the prestigious KL Wig Oration of the National Academy of Medical Sciences for achievements in the field of Medical education in India. He has served as a technical expert/advisor on policy-making and research to the Indian Council of Medical Research, Government of India, World Health Organization, UNICEF, and other organizations working for Child survival. Recently, he was awarded the Distinguished Teacher Award by the Vice-President of India.
