He is a qualified and trained Radiation Oncologist. He has completed his M.D. in Radiotherapy from Bangalore Medical College in 1982. He has received training in Nuclear Medicine from Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai. He has over 39 years of experience, in the field of Radiation Oncology.

He was in the Editorial board of Journal of Cancer Research & Therapeutics India & now in Contemporary Brachytherapy of Polish Brachytherapy Society.

He was the Chairman of ICRO (Indian College of Radiation Oncology) and the National President AROI (Association of Radiation Oncologist of INDIA) in 2010. President for Indian Society of Oncology. President of Indian Association of Hyperthermic Oncology and Medicine. President of Consortium for Tobacco Free Karnataka.
