Moduler 5: Candida infection: Nuts and bolts: Dr Archana B discussed about Candida infection.The chairperson for the session was Dr Ramesh and Dr Divya. Key takeways for the session were:
- Candida is a genus of yeasts
- Largest genus of medically important yeast encompasses about 200 species
- It is the most common cause of fungal infections worldwide
- Candida are almost universal in low numbers on healthy adult skin
- Many species are harmless commensals - located on most mucosal surfaces and mainly the gastrointestinal tract, female genital tracts and respiratory tract
- Candida appears as large, round, white or cream colonies, which emit a yeasty odor on agar plates at room temperature
Module 6: Aspergillus infection: Nuts and Bolts: Dr Satyanarayana Mysore discussed about Invasive Pulmonary Aspergillosis. The chairperson for the session were Dr Kiran and Dr Mallikarjun. Key points of discussion were:

Module 7: Pulmonary Mucormycosis: Nuts and bolts: Dr Bharath Chhabria discussed about Pulmonary Mucormycosis. The chairperson for the session were Dr Kiran and Dr Mallikarjun. Key Points of discussion were:
- Mucormycosis – invasive fungal infection
- Order mucorales
- Mucorales cause opportunistic infections in a heterogeneous population, mostly in patients with immunodeficincies
- Angioinvasive disease that is characterised by tissue infarction and necrosis

Module 8: Fungal infections: Critical care aspects: Dr Sunil Karanth discussed about critical care aspects of fungal infection. The chairperson for the session were Dr Kiran and Dr Mallikarjun. Key Points of discussion were:
- Antifungal tolerant and resistant fungal infections are an emerging threat
- Global emergence and spread of multidrug-resistant Candida auris
- Blood stream infections among non-albicans Candida species with decreased susceptibility to first-line antifungal therapies
- Fluconazole and echinocandin resistance in Nakaseomyces glabrata (formerly Candida glabrata)
- Fluconazole-resistant Candida parapsilosis
Module 9: Case Presentation: Different case were presented by the presenters, which was followed by panel discussion. Case presenters were Dr Sandeepa H.S., Dr Pavan Yadav, Shivlingaswamy and Dr Hariprasad. The panelists were Dr Priya, Dr Pragati, Dr. Vinay D and Dr. Jayanti. The session was moderatedby Dr Suma.
Module 10: Summary and round up: The compelete CME was summarized by Dr Ravindra Mehta. He also delivered the vote of thanks. Second poll was raised.
