In January 2020 the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus disease in Hubei, China to be a Public Health Emergency of international concern and by March 2020 the WHO declared this a pandemic. In India, the first COVID-19 case was diagnosed on 30th January 2020. With cases rising steadily in various states, the CHAI Academy has designed several courses consisting of videos, lectures, webinars, power point slides and guidelines for its members that have been curated from CHAI or government bodies or other credible organizations.
This course is designed for hospital administrators and management to so they can provide timely support to their organization in the fight to control spread of COVID-19.
Chapter 1: Introduction to COVID-19
Unit 1: (Video, 65 mins): COVID 19- Epidemiology and diagnosis: This online webinar (almost 65 minutes) was conducted and recorded by AIIMS on 27 March 2020. Dr Vijay Hadda, Associate Professor of Department of Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, presented about the epidemiology and diagnosis of COVID-19 along with Dr Saurabh Mittal who explained practices of Infection Prevention Control (IPC) measures .
Unit 2: Advisory for hospital and clinics: This document gives information to hospital administrators for management of suspected coronavirus patient (NCDC).
Unit 3: Advisory for hospitals and medical institutions: This document is provided by MoHFW which gives recommendations to be prepared for any possible influx of patients on account of COVID-19
Chapter 2: Guidelines for infection prevention and control (IPC)
Unit 1: PDF Document: This document is provided by NCDC, gives standard recommendations to prevent spread of infection which include standard precaution, contact precaution and respiratory precaution.
Unit 2: Recorded webinar by AIIMS: This webinar was recorded on 30th March 2020. The webinar gives detail explanation about how the health care professional should prepare themself before examining the COVID-19 patient and how and where to dispose the mask, after examining the COVID-19 patients.
Chapter 3: Formation of internal dedicated multidisciplinary team regarding to COVID-19: Doctors and health workers are the frontline in fight against COVID-19. Their effort and spirit are widely acclaimed at all levels. It is of utmost important that adequate measures are being taken for ensuring their safety. This document is from MoHFW describes about the precautionary measures to be taken for COVID warriors.
Chapter 4: Clinical management: Practical manual to set up and manage a SARI treatment centre and a SARI screening facility in health care facilities: This document is provided by WHO that provides recommendations, technical guidance, standards and minimum requirements for setting up and operating severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) treatment centres.

Chapter 6: Daily rounds by administrator: These chapter contains various forms which are required to be filled while examining the patient. These forms are downloaded from NCDC.

Chapter 15: Dead body management: This document provides the detailed explanation about the standard precautions which needs to be followed while handling dead body of COVID-19 patient, which includes infection and prevention control practice, removal of body from isolation area, handling of body in mortuary, autopsies, crematorium or burial etc
