Introduction: Mr Puneet Rai (Marketing Manager, Ethicon) started the webinar and introduced our surgeon Dr Roy Patankar. Dr Patankar then explained the event, welcomed and introduced the panelists.
Discussion: A panel discussion started with 2 case presentations and detailed explanation about safety concerns when operating near hepatocystic triangle & calots, Rouviere's sulcus and its relevance; importance of lymph nodes were also discussed. Guidelines were discussed regarding precautions to be taken when bleeding starts during a surgery. Few case presentations were provided & discussed by the panel on partial and complete cholecystectomy.
Live case surgery: Three (03) live surgical cases of laparoscopic cholecystectomy were explained by Dr Patankar. During the surgeries, Dr Patankar explained about precautions during the procedure, the smoke generated during surgery and about COVID-19 surgical precautions during such procedures. He also explained about the use of different cautery in the procedure and how a bag should be used for removal of gallbladder. Dr Patankar then explained about suturing and how to prevent herniation post surgery. Patient diet and discharge were also addressed.
