Module 1: Welcome and Introduction (00:00:00 - 00:11:51)
Dr. Vineet Agarwal from Ethicon welcomed the panellists and introduced Dr. Jagannath Dixit surgeon for the day and Dr. Devendra G. Parikh, moderator for the day.
Dr. Vineet Agarwal gave a brief description about the surgery that will be performed and the general instructions for the event were given before handing over the session to Dr. Jagannath Dixit.
Module 2: Laparoscopic colorectal surgery 1 (00:11:51 - 07:02:29)
Dr. Jagannath Dixit introduced and thanked Dr. Devendra G. Parikh for moderating the session. The case was presented. Dr. Dixit began his session by thanking all the participants for joining and being a part of this webinar. He then gave a detailed patient history including the investigation reports. The importance of doing endoscopy and entire examination even if the patient comes with prior imaging was emphasised upon by Dr. Dixit and Dr. Parikh.
The MDT required for the surgery was discussed. The treatment protocol was also mentioned.
The robotic system model used for the surgery was mentioned, the markings were made. The patient and the port positions were explained. The settings were also mentioned.
The importance of the table positions prior to docking the robot was discussed.
The difference between Si and Xi robot models and the preferred instruments of Dr. Dixit was mentioned during the surgery..
Whether or not to keep the Ryle’s tube during the surgery and whether or not to preserve the Thoracic duct was discussed.
All the steps were explained in detail. It was a very well shown and explained session.
Post-op Physiotherapy and the ambulation plan was explained.
The second part(abdominal part) of the surgery began.
The patient position was shown and explained. The total number of ports used for this part of the surgery was 5 including the camera and assistant port. The robot was docked and the settings were explained.
The surgeon’s position to perform the anastomosis was also explained in detail.
All the steps of the surgery were well explained and demonstrated.
