Module 1: Introduction & welcome note: Dr Shubhi Kulshrestha from Medical Learning Hub welcomed the speaker and all the participants. She then introduced Dr. Manoj Kela, Prof & HOD Gen. Surgery SAMC & PGI Indore, Dr. Mohan Gadodia, Consultant Urologist & Andrologist, Department of Urology, SAMC & PGI Indore and Dr. Vikas Asati, Medical Oncologist, SAMC, Indore who were the speakers. Post that all the general instructions were explained and the first poll was raised.
Module 2: Innovation in diagnosis for Prostate Cancer: Dr. Mohan Gadodia, Consultant Urologist & Andrologist, Department of Urology, SAMC & PGI Indore shared his clinical experience in recent innovations in diagnosis, treatment and management of prostate cancer. He covered following points in brief:
- A brief guidelines for screening and recommendations for early detection of prostate cancer
- Guidelines and recommendations for MRI imagine in biopsy decision
- Explanation of evidence and guidelines for prostate cancer biopsy
- The category of risks stratification after confirming the diagnosis
- The general guidelines for the treatment of prostate cancer
- Treatment of low risk disease, intermediate risk diseases, and high risk disease
Module 3: Innovations in management of prostate cancer: Dr Vikas Asati Medical Oncologist, SAMC, Indore shared his clinical experience on innovation in management of prostate cancer. He covered the following points:
- The natural history of prostate cancer
- The explanation of Hormone sensitive prostate cancer
- A brief on Androgen deprivation therapy
- Combined modality approaches incorporating Androgen deprivation therapy
- Chaarted, Latitudes and Stampede clinical trial studies to classify and enroll patients
- Castration resistant prostate cancer
- A brief explanation of different clinical trials of the drugs used in treating prostate cancer
- Statistics of DNA repair gene alteration which are common in metastatic prostate cancer
- A brief explanation of ongoing clinical trials of the PARP inhibitors
Module 4: Q&A: Several questions were asked by the attendees which were all answered by Dr. Mohan Gadodia and Dr. Vikas Asati. The session was moderated by Dr. Manoj Kela.
