Fortis hospital Mulund welcomes you to a live surgical workshop on "Laparoscopic/Robotic Colorectal Surgery Simplified" by Dr. Anil Heroor.
Module 1: Welcome and Introduction (00:03:11 - 00:06:16)
Dr. Vineet Agarwal from Ethicon welcomed the panelists and introduced Dr. Anil Heroor, a surgeon for the day, Dr. N. Arulvanan, moderator for the day. He also introduced Dr. Nikhil Pramod Dharamadhikari and Dr. Rahulkumar Narayan Chavan, part of the team of Dr. Anil Heroor.
Dr. Vineet Agarwal gave a brief description of the surgery that will be performed and the general instructions for the event were given before handing over the session to Dr. Anil Heroor.
Module 2: Laparoscopic colorectal surgery 1 (00:06:16 - 01:43:54)
Dr. Anil Heroor gave a brief history about the patient history and patient position. The importance of doing MRI even if the patient comes with prior imaging was emphasised upon. All the steps of the surgery were well explained and demonstrated. The need to locate the ureter before moving ahead in the surgery was shared. The type of scope used was shared. The dissection was shown in detail. Dr. Heroor used the harmonic in the surgery as an energy source. Port position was shared again for those who joined in late. The margin to keep was also shared. A leak test was performed.
Module 3: Laparoscopic colorectal surgery 2 (01:43:54 - 04:54:56 )
The brief history of the patient for the second surgery of the day was given by Dr. Anil Heroor. Insertion of the excel trocar and its way to use it was shown and shared. Adhesions were removed. 3 major points where sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves can get injured were explained. The port more convenient to use in case of anything below the pelvis brim was shared. The dissection was shown in detail. Dr. Anil explained why he prefers colostomy over ileostomy.

Module 4: Laparoscopic colorectal surgery 3 (LAP AR) (04:57:57 - 06:04:20 )
Dr. Anil Heroor started the third surgery for the day by giving a brief of the patient's history. The lymph nodes were cleared. The proper way of using the vascular clips was explained and how to manage them if these clips get stuck. All the steps were shown and explained. Dr. Anil Heroor used harmonicas as an energy source during the surgery. A leak test was performed. What should be done in case of bubbles were mentioned and explained. What should be kept in mind when methylene blue is used for the leak test was shared.
Module 5: (06:04:20 - 06:12:40)
Dr. Anil Heroor gave a vote of thanks and Dr. Sameeksha Saxena Lamba (PT) gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the Ethicon and MLH team. The poll was raised.
