Module 2- Panel Discussion: FAQ on Advancements in Prostate Cancer: Clinical Diagnostics, Case Management, Radiotherapy, Surgery, Several questions were asked from the panelist with the frequently asked questions about diagnosis, surgical management, medical management as well as surgical management of Prostate Cancer. Some of the questions were:
- What are some factors you use to recommend patients for therapeutics versus radiation versus surgery?
- What are some comorbid conditions associated with PC?
- Can you describe what the PSA test measures molecularly, the free and total PSA levels and how should these be interpreted by clinicians or oncologists?
- What are some advances in prostate cancer diagnosis and can you talk about any novel or upcoming diagnostic methods?
- Can you tell us of recent advances in radiation therapy applicable to Prostate Cancer, any upcoming methods that are possibly positively changing outcomes ?
- Can you explain the different options for radiotherapy in prostate cancer such as Brachytherapy, IMRT and proton therapy, with factors that affect an oncologist’s decision in preferring one over another ?
- Can you tell us of recent advances in surgical methods applicable to Prostate Cancer surgery
- From your experience in Prostatectomy, what precautions should young surgeons take during the operation?
